Owner-Operator FAQ

Everything you need to know before we roll.

01

What is a freight dispatcher and what does ChrissyWick Dispatching do?

A freight dispatcher is your back-office partner who finds loads, negotiates rates with brokers, and handles paperwork so you can stay focused on driving. ChrissyWick Dispatching is a boutique, owner-operator-first dispatch service for box trucks, hotshots, and dry vans nationwide. We source high-paying freight, negotiate top dollar, manage carrier setups, rate confirmations, BOLs, and invoicing — and keep you rolling with real, one-on-one support.

02

Who do you dispatch for — box trucks, hotshots, or dry vans?

All three. We specialize in dispatching for box truck owner-operators (24–26 ft straight trucks), hotshot drivers (typically 1-ton trucks with gooseneck flatbeds), and dry van owner-operators running 48–53 ft trailers. Whether you're a single-truck owner-operator or running a small fleet, we tailor lanes and rates to your equipment.

03

How much does dispatching cost?

We offer three transparent options: a 3-day free trial so you can see results before paying anything, a Starter plan at 15% per load (you only pay when you get paid), and a custom Fleet plan for multi-truck operations. There are no hidden fees, no setup costs, and no long-term contracts.

04

How do I sign up and what paperwork do I need to start?

Onboarding takes minutes. You'll download our Carrier Profile PDF and send it back with: your MC number, DOT number, EIN, a copy of your insurance certificate (auto liability and cargo coverage), your W-9, and a signed dispatch agreement. If you use a factoring company, we'll collect that info too so we only book with approved brokers. Once submitted, we set you up with brokers and start hunting loads — usually within 24 hours.

05

What information goes on the Carrier Profile form?

The Carrier Profile collects everything we need to book loads on your behalf: company name and DBA, physical and mailing address, main contact, MC/DOT/EIN numbers, equipment details (trucks, trailers, sizes, max weight), driver info, area of operation (states you'll run), your minimum rate per mile, max picks/drops, factoring company details, and insurance agency contact. The more accurate the profile, the better the loads we can match you with.

06

Do I need my own authority (MC number) to work with you?

Yes. To dispatch you, you must have your own active MC and DOT authority, current auto-liability and cargo insurance, and an EIN. If you're still in the process of getting your authority, reach out — we can point you in the right direction so you're ready to roll when it's active.

07

How do you find high-paying loads and negotiate rates?

We work the major load boards, direct broker relationships, and our network of shippers daily. Instead of accepting the broker's first number, we push to their ceiling using current market data, lane history, and fuel costs. The result: better rate-per-mile, fewer dead miles, and bigger paychecks for you.

08

What lanes and states do you cover?

We dispatch nationwide across all 48 contiguous U.S. states. You tell us your preferred lanes, home base, and how far you want to run, and we build loads around your goals — whether that's regional, OTR, or dedicated routes.

09

How does the 3-day free trial work?

Sign up, complete the Carrier Profile, and we'll start booking loads at no cost for 3 days. No card required, no catch. After the trial, you choose to continue on the Starter plan (15% per load) or upgrade to Fleet pricing — or walk away with zero obligation.

10

Do you handle billing, invoicing, and factoring?

Yes. We handle the rate confirmations, BOLs, broker setups, and invoicing on every load. If you use a factoring company, we'll only book loads with brokers your factor approves. Don't have one yet? We can recommend trusted factoring partners to get you paid faster.

11

When can I reach my dispatcher?

You get direct access to Chrissy — not a call center queue. Dispatch support is available 24/7 for active loads, breakdowns, and broker issues. Most communication happens by phone, text, or email so you always know who you're talking to.

12

What makes ChrissyWick Dispatching different from other dispatch services?

We're boutique by design. You won't get passed around a call floor or ghosted on a Friday. Chrissy treats every truck like her own — learning your equipment, your lanes, and your money goals — then negotiates like it's her paycheck on the line. Real support, real results, and a personal relationship that big dispatch shops can't match.
